Ethical values of transactional and transformational leaders Research Paper
Moral estimations of value-based and transformational pioneers - Research Paper Example For authority to happen there should be some pioneer devotee relationshipâ without supporters, there is no pioneer (Hay and Hodgkinson, 2006). In spite of the fact that a pioneer may be picked as a feature of a proper framework, an individual can be a pioneer without legitimate approval. The genuine pioneer of a gathering probably won't be the doled out chief, and in all actuality, the jobs of pioneer and adherent might be ever-changing, as necessities and conditions change (Burns, 1978, 2003). Pioneers are a methods toward change (Bass, 1981). Consumes (1978, 2003) calls attention to that the essential, main thrust for initiative is change, and pioneers/adherents have a powerful interdependency. They succeed or come up short, in light of how well they work through change. As per Bolman and Terrence (2003), in spite of the fact that pioneers may share some normal characteristics (i.e., vision), a main consideration in making pioneers is the circumstance or condition wherein they l ead or potentially create. Kouzes and Posner (1995) express that activity assignments, connections/contacts with others, just as formal preparing and training can help create administration. Trustworthiness and Moral Leadership Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary characterizes uprightness as firm adherence to a code of particularly good or masterful qualities; a healthy condition; the quality or condition total or unified. But honesty is more confused than these straightforward definitions. People of uprightness must be sufficiently autonomous to pick unreservedly the qualities by which they will direct their lives. They should have a mindfulness and comprehension of both their qualities and shortcomings and the ability to assess themselves in a sensible style without self-double dealing (Spencer, 1996). Respectability might be viewed as identified with the wants with which we recognize so as to act adequately in our lives. This ID connotes our capacity to concentrate on explana tions behind completing certain activities other than our basic want to do as such. We in this manner have values applicable to our conduct and not simply wants. We can be said to esteem something gave the distinguishing pieces of proof are adequately reliable and inferred through pragmatic thinking and an awareness of other's expectations to act as indicated by them. Trustworthiness is shown through selfâ mindfulness and discretion in recognizing these qualities (Taylor, 1985). As indicated by Ciulla (1995), in characterizing great pioneers, thought must be given of their morals, just as their adequacy. It is a pioneer's character that truly matters (Bass and Steidlmeier, 1999). Administration quality can't be considered without assessing character, and basic beliefs are more basic than everything else (e.g., ability, methods, information) (Sankar 2003). Moral education is as significant as PC proficiency to a pioneer's viability (Sankar, 2003, p. 52). Moral initiative in an ass ociation can be vigorously impacted by its senior administration. Hood (2003) found that, so as to comprehend an association's moral practices, it is noteworthy to comprehend the ethical direction of its CEO. Indeed, even the most moral administrators will experience issues if their own upper administration is deceptive. For there to be a moral association, alongside top administration support, there should be a corporate-wide morals strategy, and, above all, there is a requirement for singular pioneers who practice moral conduct (i.e., respectability, genuineness, dependability) (Carlson and Perrewe, 1995).

ADHD and Anger Management for Children
ADHD and Anger Management for Children July 01, 2019 ADHD Overview Symptoms Causes Diagnosis Treatment Living With In Children Brand New Images/Getty Images It is not uncommon for children with ADHD to react in anger. It can be very difficult for these kids to manage and regulate their emotions. They may also be hypersensitive. Stressful or frustrating situations can quickly boil over into intense anger. Children with ADHD also have a tough time being able to stop and think through problems before reacting. As a parent, it can be hard to see your child losing control. While we canât make the anger disappear, we can help our children better manage these intense reactions. Understand Triggers Be aware of what triggers your childâs angry meltdowns. Are there particular times of day that anger appears to peak? Are there any patterns? You may notice that after school time is most difficult as your child is able to let down his guard and release pent up feelings. It may be when he is feeling hungry or tired. There may be triggers that set him off like when he is experiencing frustration with a task. Also, times the medication is wearing off may be most difficult. Intervene Early As you become more aware of the triggers, you can begin to intervene before the anger comes to a full blown head. Be a calming presence. If your child responds well to physical contact, rub his back or arm. Encourage him to take a deep breath and count to 10. Do this along with him to help demonstrate this calming technique. Use Time Out Time out doesnât have to be punitive. In fact, it shouldnât be. Time out is a great way for your child to remove himself from the negative situation to take some time to cool down. Approach time out in this way. Pick a time when your child is happy and settled and talk with him about how to use time out. Give him a sense of control by having him chose a designated time out chair away from the hustle and bustle of the household. Now he will understand how to use it when he needs it. Once he does need a time out, you will have to provide guidance by walking with him to the designated time out chair. As he sits down in the chair (or stands by the chair if the movement is helpful), practice the deep breathing exercises with him. Donât try to talk with him about the situation until he is calm and settled. Give him a lot of praise for being able to use time out to cool down, and then spend some time talking with him about what happened. If his anger led him to react by destroying his crayons and breaking them in two, ask him what he could have done differently to express his feelings in a way that is less harmful, more productive. Be aware of your voice tone and model calmness. Give him praise for coming up with positive alternative solutions. Label Feelings As you notice your child is beginning to feel frustrated, reflect upon his feelings. âThat puzzle is really hard to put together! I see it is making you feel a little frustrated.â As you do this you will help your child become more aware of his own feelings. As awareness increases, you can help your child label his own feelings. If you got an update from the teacher that your child had a rough time with peers that day, spend time talking with him about how it felt. Help him to express his feelings to you by using words. Offer Choices Offering choices to your child gives him a sense of control. If you know that your child has difficulty with transitions such as clean up time, help him ease through this time by offering a choice. âDo you want to clean up the blocks first or the race cars?â Just be sure to limit the number of choices to two or three. Too many choices can make a child feel overwhelmed or over-stimulated. Make Sure Your Child Is Getting Plenty of Sleep Children with ADD/ADHD often have difficulties with sleep. When kids donât get enough sleep they are more irritable and moody, have more trouble tolerating stress, are more easily frustrated, and overall symptoms of ADD/ADHD will be worse during the day. Model Good Anger Management Yourself It is very hard for children with ADD/ADHD to regulate their own emotions, but the more and more you can do to help your child understand his feelings and be more aware of alternative, more positive ways to react the better. One way to do this is through example. Teach by example, by not only responding in an appropriate manner but also by talking through the process so your child will better understand. Read Books Together Go to the library and pick out books that address feelings, especially related to anger, frustration, rejection, isolation, sadness, or any other difficult emotion your child frequently experiences. Ask the librarian for recommendations. Read these stories together with your child and discuss the feelings. Discuss the ways the character handles their feelings. How do the characters react? Could they have reacted differently? How might you react when faced with the same situation? Problem solve situations together and discuss positive steps characters can take. Spend Special Time Together Make sure you set aside regular times each day to spend one on one time with your child. Make this time together with positive, loving and nurturing. So often kids with ADD/ADHD experience negative, negative, negative. They need to know that they are valued and loved. You as the parent can make a world of difference in your childâs positive sense of self. Special time with you is incredibly valuable.?

Seats at ACT Test Centers Going, Going, Gone!
The good news for ACT, Inc is that their offering, the eponymous ACT, is the runaway first choice of students nationwide this year. The bad news for students is that the ACT is experiencing growing pains. Currently those symptoms are presenting as delayed scoring of the new essay for the fall test dates, which primarily affects 12th graders. In the spring, our concern is that the ACT test centers here in CA (and other areas where the SAT had historically been more popular) will run out of seats. We always encourage our 11th grade clients to finalize test dates early anyway, and this advance planning will be especially important this year. Public Service Announcement: Register Now for 2016 ACT Test Dates! Registration is handled online at http://www.actstudent.org. Lifestyle Modification and Pharmacological Therapy - Free Essay Example
Sample details Pages: 5 Words: 1377 Downloads: 8 Date added: 2019/05/07 Category Health Essay Level High school Tags: Diabetes Essay Did you like this example? Background/Introduction: GDM (gestational diabetes mellitus) is a disease that presents with carbohydrate intolerance and was initially discovered in pregnancy. In the majority of women, the postpartum glucose intolerance often gets back to normal levels, although there is a high risk of developing overt DM (diabetes mellitus) or impaired glucose tolerance later in life. Glycemic control has been achieved through various means including eating a balanced diet and taking medications such as insulin treatment. Methods: This paper sought to establish through a PICO question the extent to which in pregnant females with GDM (P), lifestyle modification (I) compares with pharmacological therapy (C) to aid in the improvement of diabetic control and pregnancy outcomes (O). Therefore, search for the relevant articles was conducted in various online databases guided by this PICO question for secondary data. Donââ¬â¢t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Lifestyle Modification and Pharmacological Therapy" essay for you Create order Results: In most of articles reviewed, an examination of the PICO question showed that lifestyle modification, through such efforts as engaging in exercise and eating a balanced diet, is an efficacious way of managing GDM similar to pharmacological therapy. Discussion: Lifestyle modification is an integral intervention to the prevention and control of patient outcomes when it comes to GDM. Conclusion and Recommendation: Lifestyle modification and pharmacological therapy works in achieving glycemic control in GDM. Compared to pharmacological therapy, it would be more advisable for pregnant women to embrace lifestyle modification as the most preferred means of achieving glycemic or diabetic control for improved pregnancy outcomes. Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a common complication of pregnancy with a reported prevalence of as high as sixteen percent, a rate that is on the rise across the globe (Wang et al., 2015). Maternal hyperglycemia has been established as causing a significantly high glucose transfer to the fetus, which occasions the overgrowth of the insulin-sensitive tissues and fetal hyperinsulinemia (Asemi, Samimi, Tabassi Esmaillzadeh, 2014). The resultant excessive fetal growth causes shoulder dystopia, heightened trauma at birth, or even perinatal deaths. Obesity and being overweight before pregnancy presents a risk factor for GDM, enhancing the probability of adverse pregnancy outcome for mothers and babies (Wang et al., 2017). Despite the fact that medical nutritional therapy (MNT) comes across an one of the cornerstone approaches to treating women with GDM, limited information exists as to the allowance of evidence-based recommendations concerning certain nutritional approaches that include control of fiber content or nutrient distribution in the management of GDM (Asemi, Samimi, Tabassi Esmaillzadeh, 2014). Besides limited information on dietary approaches to the regulation of outcomes in women with GDM, other factors such as gestational weight issues need to be addressed more for improved GDM-related pregnancy outcomes. Furthermore, even if regular exercise has been established as potentially reducing the risk of developing GDM, its efficacy still remains controversial (Wang et al., 2017). Medical nutrition therapy is also considered one of the mainstays of GDM treatment and management. Nevertheless, a limitation exists in data concerning the optimal diet that patients can use to attain glycemic control, as well as improved perinatal outcomes (Yamamoto et al., 2018). According to obstetricians and medical experts, physical exercise and eating a balanced diet are deemed as some of the best lifestyle modification methods that play a significant role in the prevention and management of GDM (Wang et al., 2015). Maternal overweight and obesity issues are pertinent to the framing of this topic on GDM as major contributing factors. These necessitate the conceptual model of BMI (body mass index) as one that determines the success of lifestyle modification (exercise and balanced diet) in improved GDM outcomes in pregnant women. It is prudent to note that a high BMI before or in the first trimester of pregnancy, as well as excessive GWG (gestational weight gain) in early and mid-pregnancy are deemed as early GDM markers that can be pharmacologically controlled or best managed through lifestyle modification. Purpose Statement In pregnant females with gestational diabetes mellitus (P), does lifestyle modification (I) in comparison with pharmacological therapy (C) help to improve diabetic control and pregnancy outcomes (O)? Methods Various academic databases were used in the retrieval of literature to be used in the paper. A comprehensive literature search was conducted through online biomedical databases, as well as specific literature resources. These databases included ProQuest, EBSOhost, Ovid, JSTOR, and MEDLINE/PubMed, which are search platforms recommended for systematic literature reviews in the healthcare professions by the United States National Library of Medicine (NLM). These large databases when combined with a general Internet search using Google Scholar created the opportunity of maximizing the number of relevant papers found in the search. From the initial search performed using Google Scholar and the other medical-related databases, a comprehensive literature review was done to assess, critically examine, as well as synthesize the information that was obtained from these platforms. Instead of an Internet-wide search though, these databases came in handy when narrowing the search to specific articles on GDM. The systematic review carried out in this paper entailed a search strategy to assess and find articles for inclusion and eligibility through the application of various filters and keywords. The search was based on several key terms that included gestational diabetes mellitus, pharmacological therapy, exercise, balanced diet, and lifestyle modification. Several combinations of these key words were used to find the relevant sources in answering or addressing the research question. With the appearance of many articles after a preliminary search, only the scholarly and peer-reviewed papers on these topics were chosen. Another important filter when searching for articles entailed a strict definition of the time frame for narrowing in on the most relevant publications to be used. In most academic writing and for professionalism purposes, the literature sought after is usually that which falls within five years of the current date. Therefore, the publications used in this case had to be those between 2013 and 2018. Results The articles included in this paper were mostly original research studies conducted using randomized clinical control tests or trials for empirical data and quantitative analysis. The articles used can be described as formulating evidence-based recommendations when it comes to lifestyle modification as a way of controlling GDM. Therefore, the empirical nature of the studies shows that logical conclusions could be drawn from the results obtained when conducting the randomized control trials. The PICO question identified the pregnant women as the population being studied with the themes of obesity and being overweight featuring prominently in the literature. These themes are considered as significant risk factors for the development of GDM. The theme of pharmacological therapy also features a lot with insulin-related treatment being considered in how it compares to the proposed intervention, which is lifestyle modification. According to the literature, lifestyle modification mostly features exercise and dietary considerations. Improved health outcomes are captured in the preventive theme that is abundant in the literature, even as most studies performed randomized clinical trials. The underlying assertion or prevalent theme from responding to the PICO question is that of prevention being better than cure. GDM is a special type of DM that has been receiving increased attention among clinicians due to its dire consequences for mothers and babies. Different therapies, pharmacological (insulin) and non-pharmacological (nutrition/diet and exercise) are necessary in the treatment and management of patients with GDM (Wang et al., 2017). Pharmacological therapies are instituted once the patient has presented with symptoms of DM when pregnant. Non-pharmacological therapies can be adopted even before diagnosis with the disease. Therefore, the non-pharmacological therapies compare favorably to their pharmacologic counterparts since they offer more preventive care that has better or improved overall health outcomes. GDM is a medical condition that is frequently witnessed during pregnancy and often described as the intolerance to glucose upon conception (Benhalima et al., 2015). Since physical exercise is an excellent way of controlling weight and staying healthy, healthcare professionals are increasingly recommending this for GDM prevention and management (Kgosidialwa et al., 2015). Eating a balanced diet at the correct time is also helpful in the attainment of glycemic control while reducing treatment costs by eliminating the need for insulin (Kanani Leuva, 2017). At the moment, the initial treatment for GDM is medical nutrition therapy with more randomized controlled trials needed for the comparison of various dietary strategies (Moreno-Castilla et al., 2013). Regular exercise also potentially lowers the risk of developing GDM and can be employed during pregnancy (Moreno-Castilla et al., 2013).
